Prity Jha

Madhubani Artist and Curator

Prity Jha is an acclaimed independent Madhubani artist and curator whose work represents a masterful bridge between ancient Indian heritage and contemporary abstraction. Born and raised in the heart of the Madhubani district in Bihar, Prity’s artistic sensibilities were forged in the very cradle of Mithila art. While she holds a Master’s degree in Management (HR and Marketing) from the Apeejay Institute of Technology and Management, her career has been defined by a lifelong devotion to the visual arts.

A self-taught visionary, Prity has developed a signature style that infuses traditional Indian aesthetics with a modern, abstract imprint. Her lack of formal training has served as a creative advantage, allowing her to approach the canvas with an intuitive and unfettered perspective. Her work is deeply evocative of her roots in Bihar, yet it speaks a universal language of form and color.

As an artist, Prity has made significant contributions to contemporary art practices through her unique approach. Along with Madhubani Painting, she also creates various forms of artwork such as oil paintings, acrylic, gold foil, watercolours, resin, charcoal, and photo-ink paintings. Nature serves as her muse, inspiring captivating landscape paintings.

Global Collaboration and Mentorship

As a curator and collaborator, Prity has worked extensively with prestigious art organisations both within India and on the international stage. Based in Bangalore, she balances her professional practice with a commitment to nurturing the next generation. At her private studio, she mentors budding artists, passing on the technical rigour and soul of Indian art forms.

Prity Jha continues to redefine the boundaries of folk and contemporary art, ensuring that the legacy of Madhubani remains vibrant, evolving, and globally relevant.
